Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce the recipients of the 2009-10 K-Wings Team Awards.
The awards were presented following the K-Wings home game tonight versus the Toledo Walleye at Wings Stadium.
The following were the awards and the recipients of the K-Wings Awards Ceremony:
Booster Club Appreciation Award: Bryan Jurynec
KOHA Plus-Minus Award: Devin Featherstone
Otten Trophies Star of the Game Award: Sam Ftorek
McDonald’s Leading Scorer Award: Andrew Fournier
Meijer Most Improved Player Award: Andrew Fournier
Pepsi Sportsmanship Award: Rick Cleaver
Kalsee Credit Union Unsung Hero Award: Darryl Lloyd
Fifth Third Bank Defenseman of the Year Award: Devin Featherstone
AT&T Rookie of the Year Award: Dean Strong
WLKM Most Popular Player Award: Tyler Willis
Kalamazoo Gazette MVP Award: Ryan Nie
Statistical awards were decided by the player stats at the end of the regular season, while all other awards were decided by fan voting.
Will the regular season concluded, the K-Wings will now prepare to “Step Up or Step Aside”, as they begin the 2010 Kelly Cup Playoffs with game one of the American Conference Quarterfinals this Tuesday, April 6th versus the Reading Royals. Game two of the Quarterfinals will occur on Wednesday, April 7th. Face-off for both games will begin 7 p.m.
Wanting fans to “step up” for the teams first Kelly Cup Playoff run, Wings Stadium has decided to expand the $1 beer, $1 hot dog promotion to include all round one postseason home games.
While supplies last, fans attending game one and two of the series will receive a FREE playoff rally towel courtesy of the United Kennel Club.
Individual playoff tickets are on sale now to the general public. Tickets for K-Wings home games in the postseason will range from $11.90 (Blue Level)-$16.90 (Red Level). Seats for kids 12 and under will cost $8.90. Ticket will increase $1 on day of game purchases.
Discounts are also available for groups of 15 or more people.
