Game Preview

A battle for first place in the North Division as well as the American Conference will unfold tonight, as the Kalamazoo Wings visit the U.S. Bank Arena to take on the Cincinnati Cyclones. On the season, Kalamazoo is 4-7-1-1 versus Cincinnati and are 0-6-0-0 versus the Cyclones at the U.S Bank Arena.    

Losing in overtime yesterday to Wheeling, Kalamazoo earned a point to extend their lead in the North Division to two points over Cincinnati. The K-Wings have also climbed to within one point of the South Carolina Stingrays for first place in the American Conference.

Having Friday night off, the Cyclones should be well rested. Currently tied with Charlotte for fourth place in the American Conference, Cincinnati trails Kalamazoo by one point for first place in the division and are two points behind South Carolina for the top spot in the conference.

Snapping a Streak

In search of their first win this season in the Queen City, the K-Wings are 0-6-0-0 at the U.S. Bank Arena. In fact, half the K-Wings 12 regulation road losses have occurred at the U.S. Bank Arena. 

Head of the Class

Goaltender Ryan Nie has won 25 games this season. The 25 victories ties Nie with Idaho’s Rejean Beauchemin for the league-lead. .  

 

Dishing it Out

Forward Patrick Asselin enters tonight on a seven-game road point and assist streak. Asselin has recorded 11 points (1 goal, 10 assists) during the streak.

Nearing Double Digits

Forward Sam Ftorek enters the U.S. Bank Arena on a nine-game point streak. Besides the nine-game streak, Ftorek has scored goals in four straight games for Kalamazoo, tying the season-high shared by Trent Daavettila (10/25/09-11/04/09).
