Game Preview

A week long of contests between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Wheeling Nailers will come to end this afternoon as the teams meet for the fourth time in a span on seven days. On the season, Kalamazoo is 4-3-0-0 versus Wheeling. The teams will meet once more on the season, next Friday at the WesBanko Arena. 

A victory last night for Kalamazoo coupled with a loss by the Trenton Devils captured a playoff berth for the K-Wings. With 82 points, Kalamazoo is one point behind the Cincinnati Cyclones for first place in the North Division and trail the Charlotte Checkers by a single point for fourth place in the American Conference.

With six games remaining in their regular season, time is of the essence for the Nailers. With 66 points, Wheeling is ninth place in the American Conference, three points behind the Reading Royals for eighth and four behind the Toledo Walleye, who are in seventh place. Wheeling will play Toledo tomorrow.

Playoff Bound

Winning last night against Wheeling coupled with a loss from the Trenton Devils punches Kalamazoo's ticket to the postseason. Kalamazoo enters the night one point behind Cincinnati for first place in the North Division and one point behind Charlotte for fourth place in the American Conference.

Sharing the Wealth

Spreading the scoring around, four members of the K-Wings enter tonight on impressive multi-game point streaks. Patrick Asselin, Andrew Fournier and Sam Ftorek are on six-game point streaks, while Dean Strong has earned points in seven straight games. 

 

Asselin Reaches Milestone

Scoring Kalamazoo’s final goal on the contest yesterday, forward Patrick Asselin reached a personal milestone. The goal represented the 100th career point for Asselin.  


Curadeau Back on Top

Forward Mathieu Curadeau earned the game-winner last night in the K-Wings 5-2 victory. The tally was Curadeau’s team-leading fifth game-winner of the season.
