Game Preview

For the second this season, the Kalamazoo Wings will head to the southern tier of New York to battle the Jackals. Kalamazoo defeated Elmira 4-1 last Saturday at the First Arena. After tonight, the two teams will meet once more in the regular season, March 24th at Wings Stadium.

Unbeaten in regulation in their last 10 games (8-0-1-1), the K-Wings have climbed to within three-points of first place in the North Division. Kalamazoo also enters the night in fourth place overall in the American Conference.

In first place in the East Division, Elmira completed a trade yesterday in hopes of remaining the beast of the east. The Jackals acquired forward Thomas Beauregard from the Johnstown Chiefs. Beauregard, who has 34 goals on the season, will make his Elmira debut tonight.

Roster Moves

On Wednesday, the K-Wings received defenseman Ryan McGinnis back from the AHL’s Norfolk Admirals. In separate transactions, Kalamazoo signed goaltender Tom Askey and released forward Olivier Legault.

Goaltender of the Week

On Monday, Ryan Nie was honored by the league by being selected the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week. This is the second time that Nie has received the award.

Breathing Easier

Playing a lot of close games on the road, Kalamazoo’s 6-3 victory last Thursday proved to be a rarity. The victory was the K-Wings first road win that wasn’t decided by a single goal, since December 5th against the Toledo Walleye, a span of 13 games.

A Perfect 10

The K-Wings starts the week on a season-high ten-game (8-0-1-1) unbeaten streak. Besides the overall streak, Kalamazoo is also unbeaten in regulation on the road in their last six games (4-0-1-1), which is one game shy of tying their season-high.
