Game Preview

Tonight is the middle contest of a three straight games between the Kalamazoo Wings and the Florida Everblades. Kalamazoo dropped their first contest on Wednesday 4-2. On the season, the K-Wings are 1-2-0-0 against the Everblades.

Wednesday’s loss was the K-Wings ninth straight game on the road without a win (0-8-0-1). With 58 points, Kalamazoo finds themselves in third place in the North Division, two points behind Toledo for second and ahead of Wheeling, who is in fourth place, by two points. 

Commencing a season-high eight-game home stand with a victory, Florida has pulled even with the Charlotte Checkers for second place in the South Division.  With 62 points, the Everblades are nine points behind the South Carolina Stingrays for first and lead the Gwinnett Gladiators by seven points.

Snapping a Streak
Kalamazoo enters the week looking to snap a streak. The K-Wings are attempting to end a season-high nine-game road winless (0-8-0-1) streak

Quick Start 

The K-Wings jumped out to an early lead on Sunday thanks to Mitch Versteeg’s goal 45 seconds into the first period. The goal was the quickest by the K-Wings to start a contest this season.

Ending a Drought

The goal from Patrick Asselin in the third period of Wednesday’s game ended a road scoring drought. Asselin’s tally was the first road goal in a span of 140:24.

 

Get Shorty  

Forward Brian McGuirk registered his second shorthanded goal of the season. The two shorthanded goals by McGuirk leads the K-Wings.
