Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announce the completion of a trade with the Utah Grizzlies. Kalamazoo will receive forward Patrick Asselin in return for future considerations.
A second-year pro, Asselin played last season in Germany. This season, Asselin began the year with the Idaho Steelheads before joining the Grizzlies, where he posted five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in nine games.
Last year with the Hern EV, Asselin recorded 79 points (39 goals, 40 assists) in 50 games in his rookie campaign.
The native of Peterborough, Ontario returns to the state of Michigan where he played five seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Saginaw Spirit.
In his last season in the OHL, Asselin torched the competition netting 41 goals en route to recording 78 points as he split the season with the Spirit and the Oshawa Generals.
The K-Wings will be back in action this Friday, February 5th as they conclude their three-game home stand with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Cincinnati Cyclones on Frugal Fan Friday, which features $1 beers and $1 hot dogs.
