Game Preview

Before heading off to the all-star break, the Kalamazoo Wings will face-off against the Charlotte Checkers. Kalamazoo leads the season series over Charlotte with a record of 3-0-0-0, which includes a 5-4 victory in the only other appearance at the Time Warner Cable Arena back on November 8th.

Concluding a four-game road swing, the K-Wings hit the ice looking to snap a three-game losing streak. This afternoon is also the third game in as many days for Kalamazoo, who has fallen into third place in the North Division, two points behind Toledo for second and trail Cincinnati by three points for first.

Losing in a shootout last night in Gwinnett, Charlotte also finds itself in third place in the South Division. The Checkers, who are 1-3-0-1 in their last five games, trail the Florida Everblades by three points for second place and lead the Gladiators by three points for third.

Short Handed

Yesterday Kalamazoo’s game roster versus South Carolina consisted of 17 players (15 skaters, 2 goaltenders). Playing with the short roster marked the first time this season that the K-Wings have not dressed the maximum 18 players.

Iron Man

Defenseman Ryan McGinnis has seen action in every game this season for the K-Wings. McGinnis is the only K-Wings player to see action in every game this season for Kalamazoo.

Lighting the Lamp

Forward Andrew Fournier recorded his 17th goal of the season last night in a 4-1 loss to South Carolina. The 17 goals ties Fournier with Rick Cleaver for the K-Wings team lead in the category.

End of the Road

Today concludes a four-game road swing for the K-Wings. Kalamazoo enters the game on a three-game losing streak, which ties their season-high for consecutive games with a loss (11/22/09-11/27/09) and is one-game shy tying their season-high four-game winless streak (12/19/09-12/31/09).
