Game Preview

For the final time in the regular season, the Kalamazoo Wings will tangle against the South Carolina Stingrays. In a highly contested match up, the defending Kelly Cup champions defeated the K-Wings last night 3-0.

Starting their four-game road swing with back-to-back losses, the K-Wings have fallen into a second place tie in the North Division with the Toledo Walleye. With 46 points, Kalamazoo trails the Cincinnati Cyclones by three points for division lead.

Snapping a two-game winless streak last night, South Carolina became the first team this season to shutout Kalamazoo.  Playing more games than any other team in the ECHL, the Stingrays have recorded more points than any team in the league with 58.

Reaching the Century Mark

Defenseman Jon Landry is closing in on a personal milestone. With his first shift of the game, Landry will be playing in his 100th career pro game.

Shut Down

Despite registering 39 shots on net, the K-Wings weren’t able to score last night. The no-goal effort marked the first-time in their ECHL history that the K-Wings were shutout.

Most Exciting Play in Hockey

In part of a 32 save performance yesterday, Jeremy Duchesne denied Trevor Bruess on a penalty shot. Including Bruess’ attempt, the K-Wings have participated in four penalty shots; however, yesterdays shot was the first tried against a K-Wings goaltender.

Scoring Struggles

Second in the ECHL averaging 3.78 goals a game, Kalamazoo has had recent scoring woes. The K-Wings have scored only once in their last two games.
