Kalamazoo, MI- Wings Stadium, which is also home to The Annex and The Cube and home of the 2010 USA Curling National Championships, announces the complex will host a learn to curl clinic this Saturday, June 6th.
The clinic, which will be conducted by 2006 Olympic Bronze medalist Joe Polo, will run from 6-9 p.m. The learn to curl clinic is intended for first-timers or beginners to the sport of curling and admission is FREE!
Polo, a native of Duluth, Minnesota, participated as a member of Pete Fenson’s U.S. curling team during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. Team Fenson defeated Great Britain to earn the Bronze medal and less than a year later, on January 16, 2007; the team was named the 2006 USOC Team of the Year.
Helping to promote the upcoming 2010 USA Curling National Championships coming to Wings Stadium and southwest Michigan on March 6th-13th, Polo will be walking with a group from Wings Stadium during the 2009 Kalamazoo Do Dah Parade, which will also occur this Saturday, June 6th at 11 a.m.
Stadium Management Company owns the Wings Stadium Complex and the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. The Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and can seat up to 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newest of the three facilities and plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
