Kalamazoo,
MI- The Wings Stadium Complex, which is also home
to The Annex and The Cube, announces The Annex will host the
inaugural Women at Wings Hockey Classic May 30th-June 1st.
There
is no better way to keep cool in hot weather that playing
the coolest game on earth. The inaugural tournament will feature
round robin play, with each team guaranteed three games.
Participating teams can expect one game Friday and two games
Saturday during the preliminary round. Semi-final (if necessary)
and championship games will be played on Sunday morning. Friday
start times will vary depending on the number of teams entered
in the classic.
First place teams in each division will receive championship
t-shirts and a team trophy.
To make preparation as easy as possible for participating
teams, Wings Stadium will post the tournaments game schedule
online www.wingsstadium.com/hockey.htm#adult,
and will be e-mailed to the team contacts no later than one
week prior to the event.
To thank team managers or contacts for arranging a team's
participation in the classic, Wings Stadium will give those
individuals a special gift. Also, all players in the tournament
will receive a 20% discount in the Icehouse by Old Burdick's
located in the upper Annex.
Because the event is USA Hockey and Michigan Amateur Hockey
Association (Sanction#MIT080317) all players must be USA Hockey
registered and 18 years of age by the start of the tournament.
Age exceptions for goaltender may be made only in extenuating
circumstances.
Players
that are not current members of USA Hockey for the '07-'08
season (Sept. 1st - Aug. 31st) can become members of USA Hockey
for a fee of $30 per player (additional local affiliate fee
may apply) and can be done online at usahockey.com or on-site
at the registration table before the first game.
Registration cost for the tournament is $550 (per team). Registration
has begun and all teams must sign up by Thursday, May 15th.
However, any division(s) could close earlier based on ice
time availability and number of teams entered overall. Full
payment for the tournament is required at the time of sign-up.

Stadium
Management Company owns the Wings Stadium Complex and the
Kalamazoo Wings hockey team. The Wings Stadium Complex is
comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than
5,100 fans for K-Wings home games, 8,000 for festival seating
events and 4,500 for reserved seating shows. The Annex seats
1,367 for ice events and can seat up to 2,850 for non-ice
events such as concerts, car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube
is the newer of the three facilities and plays host to both
ice and non-ice events. All three buildings are available
for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
