First-Ever K-Wings MVP Brent Jarrett to Go Behind the Bench

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the International Hockey League, announce K-Wings alum, Brent Jarrett, will serve as Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season. General Manager Wade Welsh will serve as Jarrett’s assistant.

A 10-year professional, Jarrett played six seasons with the K-Wings (1981-82 and 1983-89). Jarrett holds the IHL single-season record for shorthanded goals in a season with 11, which he established during the 1981-82 season. During that year, Jarrett produced 122 points (40 goals, 82 assists) and received the league’s Most Valuable Player award, becoming first     K-Wings player to accomplish the feat.

In his K-Wings tenure, Jarrett ranks in the top 10 in all offensive categories, including first in all-time assists with 308.

Kalamazoo will hit the road for the final time in the regular season this Friday, April 11th as the K-Wings start a home and home series with a 7:30 p.m. face-off at McMorran Place Arena versus the Port Huron Icehawks.

After playing the night before in Port Huron, the K-Wings and Icehawks will return to Wings Stadium this Saturday, April 12th for the regular season finale for both teams. Face-off is at 7:30 p.m. and the game will coincide with Fan Appreciation Night presented by WKFR. For the second straight year, the K-Wings will hold the Kalsee Credit Union Kash Drop during the first period intermission. Also featured during the game will be the Turner Cup and Huber Trophy. Following the contest, the K-Wings will hold their annual player award ceremony and hold their warm-up jersey auction with the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House.

Single game tickets for the entire K-Wings 2007-08 home schedule are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Tickets range from $9-$14. Fans are encouraged to purchase their game tickets in advance, as they will save $1 per ticket by getting their seats prior to a game day.
