Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the International Hockey League, announce the organization raised and donated $31,750 from the 27th Annual Fifth-Third Bank “World Famous” Green Ice jersey auction, which occurred last Monday (3/17) at Wings Stadium.
A fair share of Monday’s crowd of 5,096 stayed after the game to bid on the K-Wings special St. Patrick’s Day jerseys. At night’s end, the three highest bids were for the jerseys worn by Kory Karlander, Tyler Willis, and Jamie Vanderveeken. Karlander’s jersey received the high bid of $3,600. Just missing the highest bid was Willis, whose jersey went for $3,000, while Vanderveeken went for $2,975.
“It was a victory on and off the ice,” said General Manager Wade Welsh. “The only thing that could top our 5-4 victory over Fort Wayne was at the generosity our fans showed by bidding on the jerseys.”
Charities selected for the Green Ice jersey auction were Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Great Lakes Burn Camp, Ronald McDonald House, Salvation Army and SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
After starting a two-game road trip tonight (3/19) in Port Huron, Kalamazoo will conclude the swing Friday, March 21st against Flint.
The K-Wings will return home this Saturday, March 22nd for a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus Bloomington, as the Easter Bunny visits Wings Stadium.
Single game tickets for the entire K-Wings 2007-08 home schedule are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office. Tickets range from $9-$14. Fans are also encouraged to purchase their game tickets in advance, as they will save $1 per ticket by getting their seats prior to a game day.
