Fort Wayne, IN– When the Fort Wayne Komets last suffered a home loss on December 21st it was to the Kalamazoo Wings, and in the waning moments of the third period it look like the K-Wings would repeat history. Unfortunately, the Komets tied the game with a power-play goal and made history in a 3-2 shootout victory over the K-Wings.

Fort Wayne earned the lead late in the period when Matt Reynolds (18th) finished off a two-on-on, tipping in a Luciano Aquino pass to the slot.

Finding the equalizer in the second, Glenn Detulleo (16th) ripped a blast from the rim of the right circle 6:27 into the period.

Upping his point streak to eight-games, Kory Karlander gave the K-Wings the lead early in the third notching his 35th goal of the season.

Capitalizing on a five-on-three power-play late in regulation, P.C. Drouin (18th) knotted the game at 2-2 with a left-point blast.

Remaining tied throughout the remainder of the third and in overtime, the contest was decided in a shootout. Fort Wayne outscored Kalamazoo 2-1 in the extra session and earned a 3-2 victory over the K-Wings.

The shootout point moves the K-Wings within two points of second place in the IHL, while earning the Komets their 9th straight overall win, as well as established their franchise record for home victories at 19.
