Game Preview

Two teams peaking at the right time will lace up their skates this afternoon, as the Kalamazoo Wings host the Bloomington PrairieThunder. On the season, Kalamazoo is 6-4-0-1 versus Bloomington and are 4-1-0-1 at Wings Stadium.

 

A victory over Muskegon last night has pulled Kalamazoo within two points of the final playoff spot in the IHL. The K-Wings have won three of their last four contests, with their lone setback being a 3-2 lost last Saturday against the PrairieThunder.

 

Bloomington is red hot winning fourth straight and climbing to within six points of the playoffs. Today will conclude a three-game road trip for the Thunder, who will start a four-game home stand against both Port Huron and Muskegon next week.

Reaching the Century Mark

With his first shift of the game, forward/defenseman Travis Granbois will reach a personal milestone. Today’s game will be Granbois 100th in his career.

 

The Mad Hatter

Forward Lucas Drake recorded his first hat trick in last night’s 8-1 victory over Muskegon. Drake has now earned points in seven straight games and goals in four straight; both are current-high streaks for the K-Wings.

 

Heating Up

Besides Drake, three other members of the K-Wings are riding impressive point streaks. Kory Karlander has earned points in six straight games, Glenn Detulleo has racked up points in the K-Wings last five and Nick Bootland is on a four-game streak.

 

Red Light District

Kalamazoo’s eight goal effort yesterday matched their season high for most goals in a game. The K-Wings established the high on February 22nd with a 8-5 victory against the Flint Generals.
