Game Preview

Tonight is the rubber match of the Kalamazoo Wings and Flint Generals three game week series. Kalamazoo overcame a 3-0 opening period deficit to defeat Flint 8-5 last night at the Perani Hockey World and Event Center. With a record of 6-4-0-0, the K-Wings lead the season series over the Generals.

Coming off the heals of their most productive offensive outing of the season, the K-Wings are looking to feed off that victory and create some momentum heading into March. Kalamazoo will play 14 games this month with only six of them occurring at Wings Stadium.

Flint’s loss last night made the standings in the IHL even more of a log jam. The Generals enter the night two points ahead of Port Huron for second place. Flint does have a little breathing room over Muskegon and Kalamazoo, as they lead the Fury by five points and are eight ahead of the K-Wings.

White Reaches 600

Besides making his Wings Stadium debut, tonight is special for another reason for defenseman Brian White. With his first shift, White will have played in his 600th career contest.

Dishing It Out

Forward/defenseman Travis Granbois tied a K-Wings season-high with four assists last night against Flint. Besides a K-Wings season-high, the four-assist effort also tied an IHL season-high.

At Four and Looking for More

Forward Lucas Drake enters the contest on a multi-game point streak. Drake, who earned his 100th career assist in his last home game versus Flint, has earned points in four straight games, which is the longest current streak on the K-Wings.

Eight Was Enough

Kalamazoo’s eight goals last night was a team season-high. The K-Wings previous high was seven set December 14th at Wings Stadium versus Muskegon.
