Flint, MI – The Kalamazoo Wings dug themselves out of a three-goal deficit to snap a three-game winless streak with a 8-5 victory on the road against the Flint Generals.

The Generals marched their way to a lead in the opening period scoring three times to grab an early advantage. Michel Beausoleil (25th) knocked in a rebound nearly six minutes in to give Flint a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, while on a power-play, Justin Depretis (3rd) scored from just in front of the crease. Extending their lead to 3-0, Mike Alexiou was opportunistic pushing the puck over the goal line on a rebound for his 9th goal of the season. Kalamazoo lit the lamp for the first time late in the period with a power-play strike from Nick Bootland (32nd), which cut the Generals lead to 3-1.

The K-Wings power-play erupted like Mount St. Helen in the second, striking on four of their five chances. On a 5-on-3 advantage, Jamie Vanderveeken's (9th) blast from the high slot cut the K-Wings deficit to 4-3. Moments later, Ryan Markham (5th) tickled the twine with another power-play marker to knot the contest at 4-4. Gaining their first lead of the night, Kory Karlander (30th) rebound goal propelled the K-Wings ahead 5-4. Flint pulled even later in the period with a breakaway tally from Jaroslav Cesky (7th) at the 13:53 mark of the second. Less than two minutes later, Vanderveeken (10th) recorded Kalamazoo’s only even-strength marker with a wrist shot from between the circles. Kalamazoo concluded the scoring in the period with Bootland's (33rd) league leading 15th power-play tally of the season.

In the third period, Flint cut Kalamazoo’s lead to 6-5 with a power-play goal from DePrestis (4th), his second of the night.

But that is as close as the Generals would get, as the K-Wings added tallies from Lucas Drake (9th) and an empty-netter from Glenn Detulleo (14th) to finish off Flint 8-6.
