Game Preview

If they didn’t know each other before, the Kalamazoo Wings and Flint Generals will after the next the four days, as the Michigan teams will clash for three straight games. Kalamazoo is 5-3-0-0 against Flint this season, with all but one contest has been decided by a single goal.

Trailing Flint by eight points, this week is huge for Kalamazoo. Besides having the Generals in their sights, the K-Wings are six points behind the Port Huron Icehawks for third and trail the Muskegon Fury by three points for fourth in the league.

After playing five games in six nights last week, Flint should feel comfortable with starting four games in five days this morning. Losing two of three contests last week to Port Huron has put Flint just two points ahead of the Icehawks for second place.

Drake Returns

Forward Lucas Drake is set to return to the K-Wings lineup this morning. Drake missed the past seven games due to injury.

   

School’s In Session

All-time the K-Wings are 5-3-0-1 in games played in the morning, including 3-3-0-1 at Wings Stadium. Kalamazoo is 1-1-0-0 versus Flint in Education Games, winning 8-2 on February 1, 2006 at the Perani Hockey World & Event Center and losing 4-2 later the same year on March 2nd at Wings Stadium.

Forward Nick Bootland is a specialist when it comes to special teams. Bootland shares the league lead for both power-play goals with 13 and shorthanded tallies with three.

Forward Kory Karlander is nearing a personal milestone. Karlander is one point shy of reaching 600 in his career.
