Game Preview

It should be a playoff atmosphere at L.C. Walker Arena tonight as the Kalamazoo Wings battle the Muskegon Fury. The K-Wings, who are 5-5-0-2 on the season against intra-state rivals, trail the Fury by a single point for fourth place in the league.

Ryan Markham’s return to the lineup last night sparked Kalamazoo to a 6-3 victory over Bloomington. Markham, who was on a line with Glenn Detulleo and Justin Cross, scored the game-winning goal. While Detulleo and Cross each recorded five points, which gave the entire line 13 for the game.

Two straight losses for Muskegon have created a log jam in the IHL standings. The Fury, who are fending off the K-Wings for fourth, are nine points ahead of the PrairieThunder for the final playoff spot in the league. Muskegon is also five points behind Flint for second and trail Port Huron by three points for third.

Kris Cross

Last night, Justin Cross became the third K-Wings player to net a hat trick this season. Cross’ hat trick was part of a five-point night, which ties Glenn Detulleo for a K-Wings season-high for points in a game.

That’s Not Delivery, It’s Detulleo

Glenn Detulleo also chimed in with a five-point night record four of those points on assists. The four assists, which gives Detulleo 38 for the season, tied a K-Wings and IHL season-high for assists in the game and also gives the forward the league lead in helpers.

Making Your Mark

Goaltender Ron Vogel made the most of his K-Wings debut. Making his first appearance in three months and facing his former team, Vogel stopped 44 shots to shutout Port Huron 3-0 last Saturday night.

Nearing 600

Forward Kory Karlander is nearing a personal milestone. Karlander is two points shy of reaching 600 in his career.
