Port Huron, MI-  Goaltender Jeff Reynaert lived up to his nickname of “Rock”, as he denied Port Huron of all 35 shots they sent his way in Kalamazoo’s 3-0 victory over Port Huron at McMorran Place Arena.

Fireworks surrounded the opening period for Kalamazoo. Lucas Drake (7th) connected on a one-timer from Justin Cross 1:59 into the game. Glenn Detulleo also received an assist on the tally, extending his scoring streak to a K-Wings current-high nine games.

With just over two minutes remaining in the first, it was the battle of the captains, as Nick Bootland dropped the gloves with Port Huron’s Mark DeSantis. Bootland overpowered DeSantis, which kept momentum on the side of the K-Wings.

After serving his five minutes for fighting, Bootland continued to beat the Icehawks up by striking two times in the second stanza.

Finishing off a two-on-one, Bootland notched his team leading 27th goal of the season at the 11:16 mark, Three minutes later, Bootland (28th) tickled the twine again, this time on the power-play, which was his league leading 13th of the year.

No scoring in the third period, Reynaert stopped 10 shots in third to preserve the shutout for Kalamazoo. The shutout was the second this season by the K-Wings.
