This discussion is ridiculous! We were the only team in the league that didn't charge for parking. Plus, this is the only city I have ever went to a professional sporting event and NOT paid for parking. Heck, you pay $20 for a WMU football game! This is just standard. Plus it's only 5 dollars, which I would bet is still the cheapest parking you'll find for parking a professional game. If a 5 dollar fee for parking is too much, skip a beer or an order of nachos and you're right back where you were at!

More than ridiculous when you understand that every person who's ever bought a ticket to any event at Wings, HAS PAID FOR PARKING. This is just the first time the cost hasnt been covered as part of the ticket price. Duh..... lol, big "board controversy" always seems to be rooted in simple math vs. fan "morality". lol, again, nothing changes.
as a side note: meadmore, our fist agreement of the season!! lol

Wingin it, it's a new season. Maybe we'll agree on a bunch this year. Heck Nie is gone, I know you're happier! :D

when u aren't filling the stands as it is and your staff can't sell tickets, it is a tough pill to swallow.
It will be interesting to watch the attendance this year and see if this experiment works.

And sadly, parking was never a part of the ticket price. if it were, the lots would be pothole free and safe to walk on in the winter by spending some of that money on salt lol

i think everyone understands it is a business. but when you take in to account how high ALL of the costs have gone in the past two seasons, it can be a shock. I hope the owner is not in it for money, you do not make money in sports.

Also, how many of the other teams actually OWN the entire package? Wings does not have to split the costs with a building, a city, etc. They own it all. so the money is being spent poorly somewhere (i.e. stupid promotions that do not work, etc.)

wait til playoffs when the tickets are $20 a piece.

@kwr, where do you think the money to pay property taxes, plow the parking lot, keep the lights and heat on, etc. comes from? you have always paid to park. if you understood the finances better, maybe your feelings wouldn'be so hurt?

Someone's not thinking too clearly here. If Wings wanted to charge for parking.....up the ticket price by a couple of dollars and still tout "free parking". The next year, raise the ticket price another dollar and still tout the "free parking". Maybe it has been included all along, we'll never know for sure. Still....having "free parking" would have been a big selling point. Like I said, the head office is NOT thinking clearly.

They are charging for parking at other events besides KWings games. All the charged parking events are to be announced. I'm guessing they plan to charge for parking at the holiday craft show and other large events that take place durring the hockey season.

Dude my feelings are not hurt by the increase. So keep your giggling little school girl stuff out of it.
Just making a valid point that raising prices and penalizing those few fans WHO DO COME is not the answer. It is funny that you bash a player who helped take the team to where they made it, but yet, you are overjoyed that the organization is raising prices so steep for a team that struggles to attract fans. Oh wait, I get it. You just go against the grain because it gets you attention! Darn, I forgot that!

Sure if you want to say parking was included, fine. Then all the money from concessions, K-Wings merchandise, etc are part of parking too. But there has never been a FEE to park. If it was in tickets, they raised them to cover it. So they raised them THIS year and are now charging for parking, so is that double dipping? Please, oh please, shower us with more of your "genius".

purchase season tickets you get all the perk's that way. discounts for hockey services merchandise, the icehouse, free parking, a free program for every game, attend the coaches show before every game, the season ticket holder party!.......etc. etc. etc.
they cater to the fan's who commit to a whole seasons worth of attendance! STH's actually fund the team in advance of the season.
the real story here is become a season ticket holder! and truly support the team.... ;)

you discount the rest of the team last year, when you say NIE took them to the finals!......gotta love these SUPERFANS!

I know reading is hard for the clueless. I never said he TOOK them to the finals, I said HELPED. You can continue to discount all he brought to the team, but like him or not, he was great for the team. Not a super fan...just an educated fan who uses common sense.

And you really need to think about what a "superfan" is. A fan appreciates the team, win or lose. A superfan thinks they know more than the coach and players who actually play.
