Some may think the 19 year old Clermont isn't a good goalie, that is fine. The eye opener is Riley Gill's numbers. For the best team in the ECHL Gill has played 9 games and is 7-2-0-0 is ranked 21st among goalies with a 3.12 GAA and is ranked 27th in Saves Percentage at .892. That is more alarming with numbers like that for someone considered to be the go to guy. If not for the offensive power, this would look even uglier and people would be calling for Gill.

I think this is a cogent point. I don't want to get into player bashing (he says right before he bashes a player) but I think Gill has a ways to go. At the same time I don't think we can blame all these stats on the goalie alone.

That sucks Asselin is leaving. And I also think Gill isn't a number one yet he still has away to go.

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators announced today that they have signed forward Brandon Svendsen to a professional try-out contract.

Svendsen, 26, spent the majority of the 2010-11 season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers where he tallied 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) and 41 penalty minutes in 61 games played. He also appeared in 10 games with the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL where he matched his point total with the Sound Tigers, recording seven goals and nine assists for 16 points.

The 5-10, 184-pound left wing played 71 games as a Binghamton Senator during the 2009-10 season, recording seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points.

Prior to turning pro, the Rosewood, Minn. native spent four seasons (2005-09) with Bowling Green State University. In 148 career games with the Falcons, Svendsen compiled 76 points (32 goals, 44 assists) and 106 penalty minutes.

Also today, the Binghamton Senators announced that they have reassigned forward forward Jack Downing to the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

Downing, 22, has appeared in 14 games for the B-Sens this season, recording one point (an assist). He has recorded eight points (four goals, four assists) in 11 games with the Jackals.

Wow! That is devastating with Svendson and Strong up already. Looks like Kars is out for awhile, that really hurts because he's so good on the faceoffs and PP. Hopefully Reid will be back by the weekend if he is truly just on the 3 day IR. I guess it's better to work thru this now than have it happen in March. Should be a challenging remainder of December. Goalies are going to really need to step up and keep our opponets off the board. It will be hard to keep lighting the lamp 4-5 times a game with a patch work lineup. Hang in there boys!!
