Q) You have a very good record – does
that ever put any pressure on you when you are put
in net?
A) No, we have a very solid team here and we handle the pressure collectively.

Q) What did you say to St. Pierre to make
him mad?
A) Just a little misunderstanding. Nothing major. We cleared it up
at the All-Star week.

Q) When you are on the ice, can you hear
the fans yell out “and (other team name) still
sucks? If yes, what do you think about it?
A) Most times I’m pretty focused and don’t hear much, but
once in a while I do hear some things. Fans can be pretty opinionated
at times. They have the right to say whatever they want in my opinion!

Q) My five year old and I were looking at
your helmet earlier this year and we have a constant
debate about the design of your helmet (not sure
if it’s the new K-Wings one). Did you have
Captain America on your helmet? It would sure settle
a bet in our home and in the stands.
A) Yes! That was my mask from my time in Rochester of the AHL (“Americans”).

Q) How do you like playing in the UHL and
is it different than playing in the league you used
to play in?
A) It is a little different playing at this level, but I am pleasantly
surprised at the skill level of the UHL. There are some great players
that could very well play at the next level.

Q) Hey Tom how do you like being the K-Wings
goalie?
A) I am enjoying my time with the Wings. This is home for me and it’s
great to have friends and family in the stands for most games. We have
great hockey tradition here in K-Zoo!

Q) Tom, what goes through your mind when
a puck is flying at you? Other than trying to stop
it.
A) God, I hope it doesn’t hurt (but sometimes it does…oh
well)!!!

Q) Hey Tom, I listened to the game when you
went to Rockford, that was a good game don’t
you think?
A) I thought that was one of our most complete games of the year. Everyone
played well!

Q) Who’s your favorite goalie in the
NHL?
A) I grew up idolizing Patrick Roy, but my favorite goalie today is
Ryan Miller. I had the opportunity to work with Ryan for three years
in Rochester as his “mentor”, and I’m proud to see
him doing well in the NHL.

Q) What did you get for Christmas?
A) A pair of gloves and some new music for my i-pod.
FROM:
Donna of Kalamazoo
Q) Just wondering if you are related to any
Askey’s in Los Angeles, CA? My kindergarten
teacher’s name was Askey and you look related!
Thanks.
A) No, sorry.
FROM:
Brittany of Kalamazoo
Q) Do you hope that there is a repeat of
last season when the 2005-06 K-Wings won?
A) Of course! That is the goal every season that you play. The fact
that I wasn’t a part of this team last season makes me want it
even more.

Q) I heard you play in a band. So my question
is how do you like playing in a band? And what are
the similarities from playing in a band and a hockey
team?
A) I am currently without a band right now, but would be interested
in starting one up here in K-Zoo if anyone’s interested. Playing
in bands is fun. It’s also challenging to come together, to put
good music together. Very similar to the teamwork needed to put together
a winning hockey team.

Q) Tom, my buddies and I are having trouble
coming up with some chants for you when you play
good. Do you have any suggestions? Don’t be
shy.
A) I’m fairly humble, so whatever you come up with is fine with
me…

Q) I just wanted to say hello. Also, you
are a great goalie. I know how hard you have to work
and sometimes you don’t get enough thanks or
praise. So I would just like to say thank you for
being one of the best goalies we’ve had here.
A) I appreciate the kind words, I am enjoying being a part of hockey
here in K-Zoo!
