| A 13-year pro, Willis’ return to Kalamazoo will be his seventh season with the K-Wings.
In his previous tours of duty with Kalamazoo, Willis has been a spark plug, for six straight seasons (2003-present), the fans have voted Willis the team’s WLKM Most Popular Player.
Willis started the season with the International Hockey League’s Flint Generals. A former 8th round draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Willis is familiar with the ECHL, as the native of Princeton, British Columbia has played five previous seasons in the league.
In his tenure with the K-Wings, Willis has played 326 games, recorded 225 points (67 goals, 168 assists) and amassed 1,391 minutes in penalties. Willis’ best season as a K-Wing was during the 2005-06 season, when he set personal career highs in goals (20), assists (45) and points (65).
Willis has had success at every level of professional hockey he has played, including the AHL. Willis’ best year in the AHL was back in the 1998-99 season when he tallied 18 points on 8 goals and 10 assists, accumulating 227 minutes in penalties. |
